| Production method | β-hydroxyethyl methyl sulfide is dissolved in dry chloroform, and a solution made of thionyl chloride and chloroform is added dropwise. Stir continuously during feeding, heat, and continue to react for 4 hours after feeding. Then evaporate and recover chloroform, distillation under reduced pressure, and collect the 55-56 ℃(4.0kPa) fraction to obtain 2-chloroethyl methyl sulfide. Yield 75-85%. |
